Two of the many important responsibilities that PhD Scholars take up after completing their doctorate work are teaching and contribution to the creation of knowledge through publications. A pedagogical tool which is very popular and considered most effective for teaching managerial decision making is a teaching case. To continue the practice and development of Case teaching, it is essential that budding management faculty learns to teach by the Case Method. It is also essential that they learn to contribute to the Case Resource pool so that new cases focusing on contemporary issues are written and brought to the classes for teaching.
As part of this course, you will be getting an opportunity to learn the philosophy of Case teaching and the art of teaching by the Case Method. You will be guided to write a field-based decision case, along with a teaching note. This requires a process of case idea harvesting, case germination and then case flowering. This course will also provide you with an opportunity to collaborate with industry and academia, delve into both practical and theoretical aspects of management to create a Case that could be published.

Every research project is unique. Its uniqueness can be defined along numerous dimensions.
One such dimension, which is quite important, is the extent of quantification involved in the
research project. Quantification, in itself, has many advantages like objectivity, ease of
communication, precision and brevity. Quantification can be practised at each step of
research. Therefore, it is quite useful to take a full view of research and examine quantitative
approach and the techniques which should be taken for conducting the research. This course
on Quantitative Techniques in Research is designed to scan the possibilities of quantification
at each stage of research, evaluate the choices of quantification possible at every stage and
increase the overall efficiency of research.
Pedagogy:
The course shall be conductive mostly in interactive mode. Initial exposition of the topic by
the instructor shall be followed by the discussions among the participants. Issues likely to be
faced during actual research projects shall be encouraged for discussions. Hands on
application of the tools and techniques shall also be a part of the course.
Each participant shall be required to conduct one research project using quantitative methods.
Presentation of the project output and discussions on the same shall be an important part of
the course.
